King Kone: Bridging Manual and Automated Production

The King Kone filling system has carved out a niche among dispensary operators and small-batch producers who need a step up from hand-packing without committing to five-figure equipment investments. In this review, we examine what makes this system tick and where it fits in the broader landscape of pre-roll production equipment.

How It Works

The King Kone uses a vibration-based filling method similar in concept to the Knockbox but with a few design distinctions. The system holds up to 169 cones and uses a combination of vibration intensity and duration to achieve target fill weights. An integrated funnel design helps direct flower into cones with minimal spillage.

Throughput Analysis

Our testing showed the King Kone capable of filling a batch of 169 cones in roughly 3 minutes under optimal conditions. Factoring in setup, loading, tamping, and unloading, realistic production rates sit around 2,000 to 3,000 pre-rolls per hour with a single unit. Operations running multiple King Kones in parallel can scale linearly.

Quality Control Considerations

Fill weight consistency averaged within a 5 to 8 percent variance in our tests. This is acceptable for many markets but may not meet the tighter tolerances required in highly regulated states. Operators who invest time in dialing in their grind size and vibration settings can tighten this variance considerably.

Best Use Cases

The King Kone is ideal for dispensaries doing in-house pre-roll production, small licensed producers entering the market, and event or pop-up operations needing portable filling capability. Its compact footprint and straightforward operation make it a practical entry point into scaled pre-roll manufacturing.
